Par-5 holes have often been viewed as prime birdie opportunities. Newer design efforts have come forward in which maximum elasticity is included which can challenge the low and higher handicap golfer.
“At 627 yards the 4th is a very demanding Par 5. Prevailing wind in the summer is almost always at your back allowing the player the possibility in thinking about getting home in two shots and opportunity at eagle.
Off the tee the number one goal is finding the fairway and avoiding the trio of fairway bunkers guarding the right side.
If feeling confident you can fly the bunkers and find a small downhill section propelling your ball down the hill to the 250-yard marker.
From here the green is relatively blind so the player will have to trust his distance if going for the green. To layup it is a relatively easy shot anywhere from 175 to 225 yards into the heart of the fairway short of the green.
The 5,450 square foot green is protected by a massive bunker in front that must be avoided. The green surround provides a perfect backboard which the golfer can use to spin back their shot to a back or middle pin.
The 4th showcases a range of options for the broadest range of playing levels. Birdies are possible but execution must be carried out for that possibility to exist.”
