Whaley and Nowlin Top the Leaderboard at Redtail CC

Kelly Whaley & Tristyn Norwin Lead Field at 68 with four players looming at 69

12 Players within 3 shots of the lead at East Coast Women’s Pro Tour’s Redtail Women’s Championship

(Eustis, FL) — On gloomy Central Florida day at the Redtail Country Club in Sorrento, FL the course yielded just 10 of 56 players under par including leaders Kelly Whaley of Palm Gardens (FL) and Tristyn Nowlin of (Richmond, KY) at four-under par 68. Close on their heals at three-under (69) are five players including Gabi Ruffels, who won the 2019 US Women’s Amateur, and Panitta Yusabai of Orlando, Pauline del Rosario of Garland, TX, Jimin Jung of Winter Garden and Kennedy Swan of Mckenzie Bridge (OR), a member of the 2021 Ole Miss National Championship Women’s Golf Team.

Whaley, who turned professional in 2019 after graduating from the University of North Caorlina fired a bogie free round, with a 33 on the back. Nowlin, a 2021 graduate of the University of Illinois won the 2021 Michigan Women’s Open shortly after turning professional. She sank four birdies on the day, with her one blemish on the par-4 16th hole giving her a share of the lead.

PXGWMPC Exemptions for Top 3 “Winter Series” Points Winners

ECWPGT owner Mark Berman announced today at Redtail Player/Member Meet & Greet that the top three point-getters for the 2022 Winter Series will receive paid exemptions into the 2022 PXG Women’s Match Play Championship. Referred to as Camp PXG by players of the Inaugural PXGWMPC held in October of 2021, the event will be held again at World Golf Village in St. Augustine. The PXG Women’s Match Play Championship is the marquee event of women’s developmental professional golf, celebrating women’s golf inside and outside the ropes with a stroke play qualifying event leading into the Match Play Championship as well as the Generation W Links to Leadership Summit and the INK! Charity Pro Am, which last year raised more than $50,000 for under-served public schools in St. Johns County, FL. The PXGWMPC is produced by MediaShare Consulting Group and On the Green Consulting, which collaborate to produce the ECWPGT.

About the ECWPT

Just launched in late December, the East Coast Women’s Professional Golf Tour is already in full swing, hosting its second tournament in as many weeks. The ECWPT is a mission-driven developmental professional tour creating more and better playing opportunities for women pursuing their LPGA Tour dreams.  The ECWPGT is produced by Mediashare Consulting Group, Inc, which also produces the PXG Women’s Match Play Championship.  At right, Mark Berman, Managing Partner of MediaShare Consulting Group with Mia the Official Tour Mascot (thank you to player Paige Crawford for continuing to allow Mia to hang out with us!).

The Access Golf Fund to Support our Female Athletes

While the recent US Women’s Open/ProMedica announcement is giving us all hope that the time has come for women’s golf, it will be a minute before real money trickles down to the “minor leagues.” We’re doing our part to accelerate that progress. We know the biggest inhibitor for women are entry fees and travel cost – no one is giving women athletes a 75% discount because they make 25% of the money, right? While fighting for sponsorship dollars, we also established the Access Golf Fund to help drive money to the purses we play for, and to provide micro-scholarships to offset travel costs and entry fees. If you’d like to contribute to the AGF and support a pro career, please click here.
