Life’s a Beach with Golf in Los Cabos

Travelers who like to pair golf with beach time, outside of sand bunkers that is, always love Los Cabos. With a 20 mile stretch of coastline and 18 scenic courses by the world’s best designers, what is not to love?

Not all beaches are created equal in Los Cabos. In fact, many of them are not swimmable due to the mighty waves and currents but are very fun and mesmerizing to watch. Such is the case at Pueblo Bonito Pacifica, a luxury adult only resort which exclusively features the phenomenal Jack Nicklaus Signature Quivira Golf Club. However, under the all-inclusive umbrella, guests may shuttle to a sister property, Pueblo Bonito Los Cabos, Rosé, on Medano Beach for ocean swimming.

Medano Beach is considered the safest swimming beach in Cabo San Lucas.

In the middle of downtown with all the major happenings, the long beach offers lounge chairs for rent as well as water toys and restaurants. One of the best is called The Office on the Beach with authentic Mexican fare and fresh seafood dishes served on the sand floor.

Lover’s Beach is a hidden cove surrounded by stunning rock near El Arco (or The Arch) on the Sea of Cortez. The 164-foot beach is reached only by boat and is a sweet spot for sunbathing or snorkeling. But warning, do not attempt to wade or swim on the neighboring Pacific Ocean Side, known as Divorce Beach due to the dangerous, strong undertows which are very prevalent.

Other swimmable beaches to visit or stay by are Chileno Beach, Santa Maria Beach, Palmilla Beach, Cannery Beaches and Cabo Pulmo.

Los Cabos is at the tip of Baja, Mexico where the Sea of Cortez and Pacific Ocean meet, known as Land’s End. Yet, there is no end to the fun and adventures in Los Cabos. Nobody knows that better than Cabo Adventures, one of the companies to trust for sea excursions. Imagine sailing, snorkeling, diving, deep sea fishing, dolphin and whale watching.

Humpback whales are the most seen whales around Los Cabos, almost guaranteed to be spotted during their migration season, usually December through April. Their breaching acrobatics are entertaining, especially when mother and child are involved.

Land tours are also available for the zipline addicts and UTV enthusiasts as well as an Outback and Camel Ride Safari. That might seem out of place but, Los Cabos is where the desert meets the ocean after all.

The mixed topography of desert, mountains and sea is what makes the golf course layouts in Los Cabos so extraordinary.

Some of the great designers’ works include Greg Norman’s Solmar, Rancho San Lucas Courses and Puerto Los Cabos which has a Jack Nicklaus course as well. Don’t miss Nicklaus Design’s Cabo del Sol, Quivira Golf and One & Only Palmilla. There’s Cabo del Sol by Tom Weiskopf and the list goes on with architects Dye, Fazio, the Joneses and even Tiger Woods’ Diamante with more in development as Ernie Els’ OLEADA Pacific Living and Golf is targeted to debut in ‘26.

Many courses have “comfort stations” serving food and beverage with key vistas as well as 19th hole facilities. You won’t find a bad taco in Los Cabos but all the extensive cuisine throughout the region will astound your taste buds.

If you love a golf and beach combo vacation, you’ve got to go to Cabo. Covering all the courses and activities will require multiple trips.
