Brian Lash, the owner of Owl’s Nest Resort in nearby Thornton, NH has recently purchased White Mountain Country Club to further expand the Owls Nest brand and to serve the growing golf demand at the popular resort.
Robert McNeil, principal architect with The Northeast Golf Company was brought in to first assess the needs of the White Mountain Country Club and is set to direct a major renovation of the 18-hole Geoffrey Cornish layout.
A comprehensive enhancement plan has been developed which includes the construction of 55 new bunkers, new tees, 2 new holes (4 and 9), new cart paths, extensive tree management, new irrigation and re-grassing of all of the fairways and greens.
The new 4th hole was completed this fall and has immediately sparked an interest in the property with increased membership sales in anticipation of the exciting improvements to come.
The work will be phased with the front 9 work completed in 2023 and the back 9 to follow in ’24.
The property also houses an 18-acre abandoned airstrip which will be converted into a vineyard and event venue with the old plane hanger serving as the centerpiece along the banks of the Pemigewasset River.
The newly branded Owl’s Nest Vineyard Course is scheduled to host a grand opening in spring of 2025. In the meantime, the course will be open for play through the majority of the work.
